Authentication of the qualification

The Level 6 Trinity CertPT qualification is regulated at level 6 on the UK Government Ofqual Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). This makes it equivalent in level to the final year of a bachelor's degree at university. Higher Education institutions may also accept this qualification as course credit towards a degree-bearing program.

Who can go for these courses?

The Language Point CertPT course has been developed for teachers with an English language proficiency of CEFR B2 (IELTS 6) and above. Candidates applying for the qualification must be currently pursuing teaching as a profession, required for some of the Assessed Tasks on the course along with a minimum of six months classroom teaching experience. Additionally, applicants must also have a local/international qualification in education.

What kind of qualification will the trainees receive?

The Trinity CertPT qualification is externally-validated by Trinity College London, an internationally recognised qualifications provider, providing the assurance of the quality of delivery and accuracy of assessment. The qualification appears at level 6 on the UK’s Ofqual list of regulated qualifications (RQF), making it equivalent in level to the final year of a bachelor’s degree.

Trinity CertPTcourseis all about making you skilled educators

The CertPT course focuses on the skills needed to evaluate, adapt, create and deliver teaching resources to learners that you teach. There are four Assessed Tasks to complete on the course, relating to each of these four aspects of materials design: The evaluation of a published teaching resource, adaptation of a resource for your learners, creation of an original teaching resource, and delivery of that resource.

Study materials/tutor supporttrainees will receive

The trainees will receive input focused on TESOL approaches and methods, lesson planning, classroom management, materials design, task design and effective classroom procedures to prepare for thetasks to be carried out.The trainees will also receive at least one live online tutorial per course unit with their course tutor and develop new skillswhich they can try out with their learners as they progress through the course.

They will have totake an observation class and teach onelesson, using the resource they create, to be observed by a course tutor, a colleague, or simply evaluated by the learners in the class, with the purpose of recording how effective the designed materials of the trainees were.

Difference between the two Language Point CertPT courses

The Language Point CertPT for language educators is designed for English language teachers working in any part of the world, and includes learning the current TESOL approaches and methods, materials and task design, and understanding effective classroom management and lesson procedures, as well as live tutorials focusing on the four Assessed Tasks for the CertPT course.The trainees will be assigned a personal tutor with whom they can share their queries and provide feedback.

The Language Point CertPT course for online educators is designed for teachers who are working or are looking to work with online students in any educational context. The course is focused on developing your awareness of different online educational resources, apps and LMSs, and online learning methodology (e-pedagogy). The course content is user friendly and meets the needs of teachers working on any LMS, providingthem with effective teaching routines, materials design and delivery input, and the opportunity to use the newly acquired teaching methodologies with their learners.

Duration and Fee of the course

The CertPT course takes approximately 100 study hours in totaldivided into pre-course preparation work, online videos and tasks, and assessed task work. This study time is again divided into 5 units of work, which can be taken over 5 weeks, 10 weeks or as a modular program, with the first three course units (units 0-2) taken first, followed by a second period of work covering units 3 and 4. On average, the course entails around 15 hours of work per week in the 5-week mode, and around 8 hours per week in the 10-week mode.

For institutional enrolment, where a minimum of 5 participants join the course from the same institution, the course length can be modified to appropriately fit the participants’ schedules.
The total course fee is £800

Trainees can work and study simultaneously

The course acts as in-service training, hence the trainees can carry on with their jobs alongside pursuing this course.Moreover, the course is designed in a way that requires trainees to be involved with teaching a group of learners (either face-to-face or online) which will enable them to complete the four Assessed Tasks for the course. The course has been designed to supplement the current teaching without taxing the existing job.

Trainees will have access with course tutors

All trainees will have access to at least one live tutorial (in groups and/or individually) per course unit, where they can put forward their queriesregarding any topic and will get guidance on completion of the written Assessed Tasks. Along with live face-to-face online tutorials, they will also receive direct feedback on all tasks that they submit from your course tutor during the length of the course. Our accomplished tutors act as moderatorswho will e-moderate all the work that you submit and provide continuous support and guidance throughout the course.

Application Process

Applicants have to follow the steps below while applying for the CertPTcourses:-

  • Those interested will have to fill out the Application form
  • After submission of the Application form, they have to appear for an interview to be conducted by ACT
  • In the interview the applicant’s suitability for the course will be reviewed and those who are through the interview, will get a confirmation from ACT
  • After getting the confirmation the applicants have to pay a fee of 75 GBP (refundable) to register for the interview with UK representatives
  • Next, they will have to appear for the 45-minute mandatory interview with the respective UK course tutor
  • In the interview, the course content will be discussed with the applicant and his/her responses to the pre-interview task will be checked
  • A short-written task will also be given to the applicant during the interview
  • If an applicant is found to be suitable for the course, then he/she has to pay 250 GBP to secure his/her place on the course

Installment facility is available

After securing his/her place on the course with a minimum token of 250 GBP, the applicant must pay the remaining fee of 475 GBP at least two weeks from the course start date, and confirm the place on the course. They will be sentthe login details on the first day of the course. The applicant will also be sent the CertPT Pre-course Pack, containing important information about the course, and some pre-course tasks to prepare him/her for the content to be covered in week 1 of the course.
